DNA-D is unique.
We will provide you with a life-altering ‘hot house’ year through which you will be radically mentored in the context of church, for a life of service to Jesus and to be an agent for His kingdom.

DNA-D is passionate about....
- Your character development, skills and understanding
- Dependence upon the person and power of the Holy Spirit in and through you
- Relational, non-religious Christianity: it’s fun! It works!

DNA-D is about people…
about you
! Your care and development is our primary concern
about the church where you work for your year. It will give a variety of practical experience. It could be your own church if appropriate. They will organise your church work around your training days and DNA-D programme.
about your personal mentor who will help your character development by weekly mentoring.
about your host. A family in your placement church. Or you can provide your own accommodation if you are based in your home church.
about the DNA-D team who co-ordinate and oversee all aspects of the programme and are actively involved in your personal development.

How is the course structured? At the start of the course, in October, all the students come together for a week in Herrnhut to get to know each other, build team, have fun, and teaching. At the end of the course, in August, everyone comes back to Berlin for a week of teaching and to be sent out to serve Jesus with the things you have learnt and experienced. In February you will travel to England and join with the DNA-UK students for a week of teaching and ministry.

Every second week all the students gather together in Berlin or Herrnhut for 2 days of teaching, prayer, worship and ministry. You will also be part of a DNA-D team that will serve at Christian events like the EA Spring Festival, the Thüringen Festival Zeltstadt or a ‘Sowing Seeds for Revival’ intercession week. You will also spend two weeks on an evangelistic outreach with a local church in an East European country.

For the rest of the time, you will be placed in a local church where you will live with a family, and serve the church with their projects and community work, joining in with whatever the church is doing. You will be assigned a personal mentor for the year, someone who is a mature Christian from your placement church. Normally, once a week, you’ll get together with your mentor to talk and pray about your feelings, your hopes, fears and struggles. Your mentor is there to encourage you and help you grow in your faith and maturity. Your placement church will help coordinate your church work to fit around your training days and the DNA-D programme.

Your average week is divided into:
four days serving with the church - two days for study or training, and - luxury - one day to chill out.

What will I learn about?
The training syllabus is divided into 8 categories
…Discipleship …Bible Study …Foundational Theology …Mission…Church …Personal Identity …Morality …Developing personal skills

You will be given a list of books to read during the course, and you will have assignments to write. These need not be academic, unless that is your style! The reason for the study is to make you understand the background to your faith, and how it fits in with many issues in a fast changing world. You will also work your way through bible reading notes during the course, and you will discuss these at the training days. This helps you develop a love for reading your bible.

Is DNA Deutschland right for me?
The DNA course is for all people over 18 who want to move forward in their Christian walk and who have a year to invest. Most students are young Christians who can take a year out from their studies. But there have also been students in their 60s, married couples, and people who have taken a year out from their career. We are looking for students who want to develop their personal relationship with Jesus and are willing to allow God to challenge and change the preconceptions and attitudes that hinder their spiritual growth.

What will it cost me?
First, it will cost one year of your time, interrupting your routines of life.
Second, it will cost you some of your comfort zones - facing new challenges, and opening up your life to God to let Him re-shape you.
Third, it will cost you money.

The course lasts 11 months, and is full-time. So if you feel God is calling you to do DNA-D it is good to prepare by saving in advance, maybe you can be sponsored by generous friends, or you can even sell something…

Cost of the course, including training, travel within the course, materials, etc: €2,860

Cost of food and accommodation: €1,540

Total cost: €4,400

Students who provide their own accommodation only pay for the course itself
